All of this snow has left us tucked away at home for a long time. Longer than I care to be. I’m all over self-sufficiency, but I’m also all about fellowship with other folks!
On Monday night Mom & I nervously headed out in the minivan, after several weeks of no human contact (other than our immediate family & a meeting last Monday, snow boots, chains, and all). Tonight the CSA Farms were meeting to chat future events. I was giddy with excitement, and enjoyed my evening immensely.
I joke a lot about how a room full of farmers can be very heated, and often unpleasant. Not because farmers aren’t wonderful people (quite the opposite, rather!), but we’re all rather passionate, and fairly opinionated. It’s a good thing! But it can definitely be … exciting.
This group is different, though. I swear, our CSA meetings are smooth, productive, and end up feeling like an ‘evening out’, filled with friends and more than likely, good food!
After the meeting, Mom and I went out to dinssert (a mix of dessert with a smidgen of dinner) with one of my big brothers, JR. He’s in town for the next week or two.
The snow had melted in town, but still is on covering life up here until yesterday. Since then, it’s been melting at lightening speed. The weatherman is talking floods… Pray for Chehalis! I’m thinking of Black Sheep Creamery in particular, as well as Twin Oaks, where we sent many of our goats after they lost nearly all of their own.
We wish the entire community and area a happy and pleasantly dry weekend, all things considered.
