This evening I trucked my three kids and I to our local Clark County Historical Museum. The building is as beautiful as it is old, with an amazing stairway leading to the front doors (forget the stroller).
Once inside, we were greeted by some lovely volunteers at the Museum, who set us up with information, and browsing information.
We started first at the old fashioned Post Office. It was amazing! I love sharing these kinds of experiences with my kids: melting the old into the new. Realizing the past within the present. It’s very exciting. They were totally fascinated by it all.
There were great displays in front, including the Vancouver Food Co-ops display that I got a fuzzy picture of above. Sorry about that! Beyond that, and into the featured area were amazing vintage farming and dairy equipment! There was also artwork from local painters – Ah, I’d have loved to go home with some! At the end of the showing, there was a comfy couch corner, angled to play a short DVD, featuring 11 local farms. The video really showed the diversity that SW Washington farms have to offer! An extra perk: the dvd was for sale for a smashing low price of $12.95. It was neat to take a bit of this evening home with us for continued interest!
